WHY I WROTE
Why I Wrote Through All the No’s
Life happens. And sometimes it happens in ways that stop us in our tracks.
There have been moments in my life when I faced stumbling blocks that left me at a standstill—the kind of moments when you don't have the answers, the support, the knowledge, the finances, the courage, or even a clear sense of what to do next.
I think of those moments like being in deep water. When a person feels as though they are drowning, panic can make everything harder. But when they become still, regain their focus, and patiently work to stay afloat, they give themselves an opportunity to keep going.
Life can feel that way.
Through All the No’s was written for the person who has felt overwhelmed by life's disappointments, setbacks, unexpected changes, and unanswered questions. It is a reminder that when life knocks us down, we can get back up. When things become too difficult, it is okay to pause—but a pause does not have to become the end of the journey.
For me, one of the greatest sources of strength has been faith: understanding that I need guidance greater than myself and remembering to be grateful to the One who created all that exists. Prayer, patience, and trust in Allah have taught me that I don't have to understand everything that is happening in order to continue moving forward.
I also wrote this book because I want its message to reach across generations. I want to encourage young adults who are still discovering who they are, recognize our elders and the wisdom their lives carry, and support people who may simply need to hear, “You are not alone.”
I never imagined that this would be the time in my life when I would finally become an author. I knew that I wanted to write a book one day; I just didn't know that “one day” would become now.
And perhaps that is part of the lesson itself.
We make plans for our lives, but our plans do not always unfold the way we expect. I have learned to keep moving, keep praying, keep learning, and remain open to where Allah is leading me.
“We plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners.”
